September 17, 2013
Either you want it only as a Canadian ID or because you want to drive around Ontario. Whatever the reason may be, you need to be familiar with the rules to get your G license. It’s not complicated; you just have to be aware of the process. The steps that you need to follow are:
- Be at least 16 years old, pass an eye test and a written test abouttheroad rules and traffic signs.
- Once you pass those tests you’ll get a G1 license that will allow you to drive only withthecompany of a person with at least 4 years of experience havingthefull G License.
- After 12 months withtheG1, you can have a driving test in order to gettheG2 learning license. This license will allow you to drive on your own.
- After 12 months with theG2 license, you can have a second road test in order to get thefull G license. For more information visit: http://www.ontario.ca/driving-and-roads/get-g-drivers-licence-new-drivers
If you come from other province or country, you can use your license for 60 days, after that you have to get a license from Ontario. You can exchange an out-of-province license for an Ontario license if you come from other province or from a country with an exchange agreement with Ontario. To do that you need a proof of driving experience in English or French (you can get it from the embassy or consulate office of your country). It Is important to consider that this proof of experience won’t give you the full G license, but will help you to go faster from G1 to G2 license.
