Specialties Legendary improv & sketch comedy theatre featuring hilarious live performances every night at our intimate cabaret theatre in Toronto's Entertainment District. Our critically-acclaimed shows feature of a collection of satirical sketches and unforgettable characters. At the end of every evening, our cast performs a bonus improvised set, often featuring special guests. An affordable bar and snack menu is offered, with table service throughout the performnace. Pre-show dinner packages are also available in partnership with nearby restaurants. The Second City has helped launched the careers countless entertainment industry legends, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Martin Short, Andrea Martin,, Colin Mochrie, Mike Myers, Chris Farley, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, and many more. History - Established in 1973. Few cultural institutions in Toronto have the staying power of The Second City, whose comedy revues and improvisational events are now held next door to Wayne Gretzky's restaurant. The troupe's legacy dates back to Chicago in 1959, with its Toronto outpost opening at the Old Firehall theatre in 1973. The list of Second City alumni remains a staggering cross-section of North American comedic legends, including cast members of Saturday Night Live, and those responsible for the offshoot television series SCTV from the mid-1970s through mid-1980s.
